The 20th Biennial Youth Assembly of the NEICCYA was a spiritually enriching and impactful gathering, held at the serene and picturesque Bethel Abri campus under the warm hospitality of the Garo Baptist Convention. The assembly brought together young people, leaders, and representatives from various member units, fostering a spirit of fellowship, learning, and renewal in Christ.
Day 1: 16th May 2025
The Assembly commenced with a grand inaugural service marked by a vibrant atmosphere of praise and reverence. The service was graced by Rev. Janang R. Sangma, former Secretary of the Garo Baptist Convention, who delivered a deeply insightful inaugural message centered on the Assemblyโs theme, โThe Light of Life.โ Drawing from John 8:12, Rev. Sangma explored the spiritual symbolism of “light” in the life of a believer, emphasizing how Christ dispels darkness and leads His followers toward a purposeful and holy life. His address set a profound tone for the entire Assembly, encouraging participants to reflect deeply on their personal walk with Christ.
Day 2: 17th May 2025
The second day was intellectually stimulating and engaging. A significant highlight was the paper presentation by Mr. John Stellon Ch. Marak from Harding Theological College on the theme โCreation in Distress: The Role of Tribal Communities in Addressing the Ecological Crisis.โ His presentation examined the current ecological challenges from a theological and indigenous perspective, calling for the restoration of harmony between humanity and creation. He urged the tribal Christian youth to reclaim their ancestral wisdom and integrate it with biblical stewardship to combat ecological degradation.
Following the presentation, the delegates actively participated in a business session that included deliberations on organizational matters, reports, and future plans. The evening concluded with a vibrant and colorful variety programme, showcasing cultural performances, songs, skits, and dances that reflected the rich diversity of the region and the creativity of the youth.
Day 3: 18th May 2025
The final day was dedicated to spiritual upliftment and reflection. The morning worship service was led by Rev. Dr. Ramengliana, who spoke passionately on the significance of Christian identity, particularly in being โthe light of the world.โ He challenged the youth to embody the light of Christ in their everyday lives, communities, and professions.
In the afternoon, Rev. M. C. Laloo (COG-MA) continued the theme, delivering a powerful exhortation encouraging all to โwalk in the light.โ His message called for moral integrity, authenticity in faith, and an unwavering commitment to the teachings of Jesus, even in the face of societal pressures.
The Assembly concluded with a solemn and celebratory valedictory service. Outgoing President Mr. Rossi Lallamawma delivered a heartfelt farewell address, reminding the delegates of their divine calling to spread the light of Christ to a dark and hurting world. His leadership over the past term was appreciated and acknowledged.
The newly elected office bearers and Executive Committee (EC) members were formally installed. The service was marked by prayers of dedication and commitment, affirming the Assembly’s trust in their leadership.

The Youth Assembly witnessed the participation of 301 delegates from diverse cultural and ecclesiastical backgrounds, reflecting the unity and diversity of the North East Indian Christian youth. The host unit’s generous hospitality, well-organized logistics, and delicious food were appreciated by all, contributing significantly to the comfort and success of the event.
The mantle now passes to the PYF CHT Synod, who will host the next NEICCYA Youth Assembly. With new leadership and renewed vision, the Assembly looks forward to greater engagement, deeper fellowship, and a continued commitment to bearing the light of Christ in every sphere of life.
