𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐋 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐈𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐏𝐔𝐑

The ambush on the vehicles carrying the church leaders of the Thadou Baptist Association India (TBAI) in Kangpokpi district on 13^th May 2026, in which three pastors were killed and several others injured, is deeply unfortunate, tragic, and distressing. As a Council, we strongly condemn this dastardly and cowardly act committed at a time when the state and its people continue to endure immense pain and suffering arising from the ongoing three-year conflict.

At this critical hour, the Council stands in solidarity with the bereaved families, the injured, and the TBAI as they mourn the loss of their leaders. While expressing our heartfelt condolences, we also uphold the grieving families, the injured, and the TBAI in our prayers, asking Almighty God to comfort them, grant healing, and strengthen them with His peace.

At the same time, the NEICC appeals to all communities to maintain calm and uphold peace, justice, and mutual respect. We call upon church and religious leaders, civil society organisations, and all citizens to work together in restoring peace, harmony, and goodwill among the people.

We further urge church leaders in Manipur and across North East India to refrain from words or actions that may aggravate tensions or escalate violence. We also appeal to Christian political leaders in North East India to come together in a spirit of responsibility and statesmanship to help end the ongoing crisis and contribute toward rebuilding Manipur.

The NEICC fervently appeals to the Government of Manipur, the Government of India, and all concerned civil authorities to take firm action against the perpetrators of violence, ensure the protection of human life, uphold justice, and strengthen the rule of law.

The North East India Christian Council stands in solidarity with all who strive for harmony and mutual understanding, reaffirming our commitment to the mission of peace and reconciliation entrusted to us by Christ Jesus.

May peace and justice walk together to bring healing and hope to the people of Manipur.
